Safety First, No Compromises

Safety is part of our DNA at Wahl Construction, and it’s reflected in our safety record and current EMR (experience modification rating) of 0.63.

We’re proud to be an industry leader when it comes to safety, and we’ve built a culture that makes safety our No. 1 priority. We do not compromise on the safety and health of our employees and contract associates. 

We continually improve that culture through programs and initiatives that place safety front and center in all that we do. We also take a proactive approach, and we engage our employees every step of the way. Instead of simply reacting to an incident, management and workers collaborate to identify and solve issues before they occur.

The following supports our safety efforts:

• Everyone has the right and duty to stop an unsafe act.
• All accidents are avoidable.
• Every employee is provided safety training at the time of hire.
• Every task needs to be planned and work cannot start until it can be performed safely. 
• We communicate and coach others to work safely.

We focus on behavior, not just the work environment.

• We share and implement ideas on how to continuously improve our safety culture.
• Employees are asked to be part of the solution.
• Everyone takes part in bi-annual safety training.  

Our strong safety culture also includes the selection of subcontractors. During the selection process, all subcontractors are required to submit their EMR, DART rates, RIR and OSHA 300 logs to determine if they have a strong history of performing work safely.
